Drama as delegates beats PDP chairman to coma during primary election

Image
The Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, Hon Christopher Audu, has been left to battle for his life after he was attacked during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election.   The election, which was held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Ba’ap, the headquarters of Qua’an Pan LGA, was to determine the party’s flag-bearer for the upcoming local government elections in Plateau State.  An observer, Michael Bulus who spoke to Daily Trust said though the process commenced on a peaceful note, things became violent after the TIC chairman was declared winner.   Having learnt of the outcome, some delegates and party faithful who were denied access to the hall forced their way in and pounced on Audu.   They accused him of rigging the election by handpicking his loyalists to be delegates and blocking the real delegates from participating in the process.  “The mob beat up Hon Audu without mercy while complainin...

Pre-Man Utd Press Conference

Image
Marco Silva wants Fulham to give the kind of performance we've come to anticipate from their matches with Manchester United during his tenure.   Friday's opponents have won three of the four league encounters since Silva arrived in SW6, albeit all by one goal, two of which came in stoppage time at Craven Cottage.   However, it was our turn to shatter home hearts in the most recent game, and Silva will be pleased if his squad can repeat that performance. "The reality is that the last two seasons, every time we played against Manchester United, the games have always been decided by fine margins," he stated in his pre-match press conference.  "They sometimes score last-minute goals, and I believe they did so twice against us, allowing them to win the game.  "Okay, we all know the story about the FA Cup Quarter-Finals. We had to make a decision in the final minute of the game.   The truth is that we've always given them a match. This is how we play and pre...

Tinubu commissions 20 Innoson-built CNG buses in Abuja

Image
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the first set of Compressed Natural Gas, (CNG), buses at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The buses, numbering 20 in the first batch, were produced locally by Innoson Motors.   Five of the CNG buses were driven to the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, where the President took a break from the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting to commission them.   The provision of CNG buses is one of the demands made by organised labour after the Federal Government removed fuel subsidies on May 29, 2023.    Recall that Innoson Motors' Chairman and CEO, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, met with Tinubu last week at the Presidential Villa. Following the meeting, Chukwuma appealed on Nigerians to be patient with President Tinubu and support his administration.    The billionaire promised that a better Nigeria would emerge under the President's leadership.
