China orders North Korea to close all firms within 120 days

BEIJING, China - North Korea’s most important ally, China has ordered the closure of all North Korean companies in the country and joint ventures with Chinese firms to close within 120 days.
The move comes after the latest round of UN sanctions imposed on September 12.

The round of sanctions came after the UN Security Council voted unanimously to ban North Korean textile exports and cap fuel supplies following the North's sixth nuclear test earlier this month.
Deciding to suffocate the Kim Jong Un-led regime, by cutting off key supplies, experts believe China might be increasing the risk of a North Korea war.

The rare move to strangle Kim Jong Un's regime was announced by China's commerce ministry on Thursday.
It said that the businesses would have to be shut by January.
So far, China has been reluctant to take punitive measures against North Korea due to trade agreements and political ties.
As per the latest UN sanctions, textile exports were banned and fuel supplies to North Korea were capped, stifling its economy and thwarting its nuclear ambitions.

Ever since the start of his regime, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly demanded that China take more robust action against North Korea.
China’s action also came a day after the U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said China is "quite serious about living up to the commitments they have made regarding North Korea.”
He said that stopping doing business with North Korea "is a logical next step in the sanctions and a very important one.”

Adding, “Chinese commercial banks had been a big route for facilitation of trade to North Korea so the fact that the PBOC has put out a taboo, that's a very big deal."
