There are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari has received report of those that benefitted from the misappropriation of the $2.1 billion meant for arms.

The former national security adviser has been in detention since 2015 after he was accused of disbursing money meant for the purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram for unrelated things.

The Punch reports that former Nigerian leaders, traditional and religious leaders from across the country were implicated in the reports which President Buhari received on Thursday, October 27.

The reports submitted to the president suggested the prosecution of some people and the retrieval of money from others.

According to a highly-placed security source, a top monarch in the north received money from Dasuki for his coronation while some former heads of state also got money for medical bills as well as travel expenses.

The office of the national security adviser shouldered the cost of the medical trips of one of the ex-heads of state to Germany.

The list of beneficiaries from the ONSA under Col. Sambo Dasuki is very long.

“The list comprises very prominent Nigerians, including former Heads of State, many traditional rulers from the North and the South.
Several religious leaders from the two dominant religions in the country also got funds from the ONSA.

“A former President of the country, who was sick, was flown out of the country to Germany for medical treatment. In fact, the former ONSA paid for the three trips the former leader made to Germany.”

The prosecution teams advised that a secret trail be conducted as an open trial would reveal disturbing information on how the money was disbursed.
The federal government would soon make public the final report just like it did with the interim report.

Meanwhile, Goodluck Jonathan’s claim that Dasuki could not have stolen $2,2 billion as he bought warships and weapons during his administration was rejected by soldiers.
The former president speaking on Monday, October 24, at the famous Oxford Union, Oxford United Kingdom, on youth entrepreneurship argued that allegations about the $2.2 scam was faulty because his administration, where Dasuki served bought warships, aircraft and a lot of equipment for the military during the period.

He said: “I don’t believe somebody can just steal $2.2 billion; we bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army and so on and so forth and you are still saying 2.2billion, so where did we get the money to buy all those things?”
